Moisture Remediation in Folsom, CA

Remediating Moisture

Although solid, concrete is still porous. Water can be wicked up by concrete and move through it. Along the way, the water dissolves salts in the concrete and moves them to the surface. Once this water reaches the surface and dries, the salts are left behind. This creates the unseemly white substance that often forms on concrete called efflorescence. To halt efflorescence, you need concrete moisture remediation.

If you notice cracks or joints in your floor that do not completely dry, this indicates a significant cache of moisture under your slab. Some people attempt to hide the issue with tile or DIY epoxy. Without a high-quality sealant, however, the water finds a way through, resulting in loose tiles or coatings that bubble and peel away. Then the problem is worse and more costly to repair.

What To Do About Efflorescence

Some moisture challenges are serious enough that in addition to sealing the surface, you also need to take other measures outside the building. But if the problem is just in the concrete, our epoxy sealing treatment is enough to waterproof the foundation. Then you can safely install ceramic tile, carpet, laminate or wood floors.

With epoxy sealants, the age of the concrete usually does not matter, if it is reliable. Epoxy coatings dry quickly, limiting delays, but it cannot be applied to brand new concrete until the material is fully set.
