Here are the typical steps involved when polishing concrete:
- Grinding – A strong grind of the current concrete prevents blemishes and ensures the floor sealers stick permanently. We use high end industrial vacuum equipment to eliminate the dust produced during the grind.
- Leveling – Areas with cracks are refloated to the same level as the rest of the concrete. This way the polish is 100% solid.
- Staining – The concrete floor is infused, not just coated, with a color stain of your choice. Any desired patterns are also added at this time. Stains can be heavy, hiding the concrete grain, or light, enabling patterns in the concrete to show through like polished wood.
- Transparent protective layer – Floor sealants applied above the polished floor fill the pores and emphasize the wonderful gloss. These clear sealers bond to the smoothed surface with terrific strength, creating a floor that is very low maintenance. For locations where heavy traffic is expected, we use a thicker coat of protective sealers to compensate.
Once concrete polishing is complete, your sparkly, colorful floors are well protected from wear, scratches, and stains. Cleaning is simpler, needing far less care than carpet, linoleum, or wood.
