How do you prepare the floor for your various coatings?

We start by grinding or shotblasting the concrete surface. This opens the pores in the material and makes it suitable for adhesion with our coatings. It also removes stains and blemishes in the concrete.

We have a coating already on our floor can you remove it?

Yes, we can remove the coating and make the concrete look nearly new again. Due to the need for extra grinding, there may be an additional charge for this service.

Do you fill the cracks and divots in the floor?

Yes, this is a complementary service, in most cases. Extensive cracks or divots may require a small charge.

Can and will you remove my stuff from the garage?

We don’t mind helping clients remove heavy items from the garage, such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators. We do ask the homeowner to remove all small, light items.

How long will the installation process take?

The length of the installation depends on the type of flooring you choose. Certain weather conditions may slightly extend the installation process. In most cases, a premium or hybrid polymer install takes one day and a UV resistant urethane installation requires two days.

How long do I have to stay off my floor before I can use it?

With the premium installation and UV resistant urethane you can walk on it in 24 hours, place heavy items back on it in 48 hours and drive on it in 7 days. The hybrid polymer is fully accessible and can be driven on in 24 hours.

What is the best way to clean my new floor?

The best way to clean your floor is with diluted Simple Green or Orange Glo, usually one cup to one gallon of water. Not only will this recommendation get it the cleanest, but it is also the safest method.

What type of longevity can I expect with my new floor?

The longevity of any flooring will depend on many factors, such as the amount of usage, the location (whether exterior or interior), and the amount of exposure to harsh chemicals. Conservatively, you can expect ten to twelve years with the premium coating, fifteen to eighteen years with the UV resistant and at least twenty years with the hybrid polymer.

What are the differences and characteristics between the different levels of flooring?

The premium epoxy offers some great features: good durability and resistance to many chemicals, a more textured finish and a wide array of color choices. UV resistant urethane offers much higher durability, the best scratch resistance, more elasticity, great chemical resistance, a high gloss finish, and superiority for exterior applications. The hybrid polymer is our highest level of coating, offering the best durability, highest gloss retention, broadest range of chemical resistance and the fastest drying time.

We recently bought a house in Sacramento and its garage floor was stained and looked horrible. Since the garage was empty before we moved in, I decided that was the best time to paint the garage floor. To save money I decided to do the work myself. It can't be that difficult! After several hours of research and YouTube videos I realized it was a lot harder than just rolling on some epoxy, and doing it right was going to cost a lot to rent grinding equipment and other tools needed. So I got a quote from California Custom Coatings. John showed up the next morning with samples to choose from and gave me a quote for the work. Amazingly, he was able to get his guys out the following day to get the work done in time to dry and be ready for our move. The decision to go with California Custom Coatings was a no-brainer. John had the tools, equipment, supplies and (most importantly) experience to do the job right. In the end it may have cost me a little more than doing it myself, but it saved me 15-20 hours of hard work and I know the final results are far better than if I'd done it myself! (I watched them do the work and I know there were at least three things I would have done wrong and ruined the project.)I definitely recommend John and California Custom Coatings!
