If Endurance is Needed
When excessive traffic or great demands are expected, your epoxy flooring needs a trowel grade application. It is the best technique available for ultimate toughness, making a surface with double the thickness of our usual business or residential process. Floors that support considerable loads, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, should be covered with trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is suggested when concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
With thicker coats comes added time for curing. Ideally, trowel grade epoxy is layered at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, or higher. Under that, the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes more time to cure. Ordinary curing time is eight to twelve hours for each coating. The full curing, when ordinary work can begin again, is after seven days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, trowel grade coatings are best not done.
Trowel grade coats are not for do-it-yourselfers! Skill and experience are required, as well as high-grade troweling equipment. That’s why California Custom Coatings is here for clients in Rancho Cordova to provide the right materials and teams to do the job if trowel grade coatings are specified.
