If Strength is Wanted
Where much traffic or extra demands are common, the epoxy flooring must have a trowel grade application. It is the perfect technique available for maximal endurance, creating a coating with twice the thickness of our typical home or commercial process. Floors that experience great mass, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, ought to be protected with a trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade is also recommended where concrete contact with corrosive or caustic chemicals is common.
With fatter epoxies comes extra time for curing. Optimally, trowel grade epoxy is laid at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, or higher. Below that, the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes more time to cure. Normal curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coat. The complete cure, when normal activities can begin again, is after seven days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, trowel grade coats are best not attempted.
Trowel grade coats are not for DIY fans! Skill and experience are necessary, as well as professional troweling tools. That’s why California Custom Coatings is here for you in Woodland to bring the correct materials and teams to do the job if trowel grade epoxies are wanted.
