When Strength is Needed
When continuous traffic or higher demands are common, your epoxy flooring requires trowel grade application. This is the best system available for maximum longevity, allowing for a surface with double the thickness of our usual commercial or home epoxy. Floors that undergo considerable weight, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, ought to be coated with trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is recommended when concrete is regularly in contact with corrosive or caustic chemicals.
With heavier coatings comes extra time for curing. Ideally, trowel grade epoxy is applied at temperatures of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, F or above. Under that, and the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes more time to cure. Normal curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coating. The final cure, when average activities can begin again, is after seven days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, F, trowel grade coatings are best not attempted.
Trowel grade coats are not for do-it-yourself fans! Skills and experience are essential, as well as high-grade troweling tools. That is why California Custom Coatings is here for you in Elk Grove to use the perfect materials and crews to do the job when trowel grade coatings are wanted.
