If Strength is a Requirement
Where continuous traffic or extra demands are expected, the epoxy flooring needs trowel grade application. This is the optimal system available for ultimate durability, allowing for a surface with twice the thickness of our usual residential or business process. Floors that experience considerable loads, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, should be coated with trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is recommended if concrete contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals is common.
With thicker coats comes extra time for curing. Optimally, trowel grade epoxy is layered at temperatures of seventy degrees Fahrenheit, F or above. Below that, and the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes longer to cure. Ordinary curing time is 8-12 hours for each coat. The complete cure, when ordinary work can begin again, is after 7 days. Below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, F, trowel grade epoxies are best not tried.
Trowel grade epoxies are not for DIYs! Experience and skill are needed, as well as high-grade troweling equipment. That is why California Custom Coatings is here for you in Folsom to provide the right materials and staff to do the job if trowel grade epoxies are desired.
