When Endurance is a Requirement
Where heavy traffic or extra demands are expected, your epoxy flooring needs trowel grade application. It is the ideal system available for maximum longevity, providing a coating with twice the thickness of our usual residential or business process. Floors that experience great mass, such as from heavy-duty forklifts, require trowel grade epoxy. Trowel grade also is specified when concrete is commonly in contact with caustic or corrosive chemicals.
With extra thick epoxies comes additional time for curing. Optimally, trowel grade epoxy is layered at temperatures of 70 degrees (Fahrenheit) or more. Below that, and the epoxy, with its clear coat, takes longer to cure. Normal curing time is 8 to 12 hours for each coating. The final curing takes about 7 days at which point regular traffic may resume. Below 55 degrees, trowel grade coatings are best not tried.
Trowel grade epoxies are not for do-it-yourselfers! Skills and experience are needed, as well as quality troweling equipment. That’s why California Custom Coatings is here for customers in Stockton to bring the right materials and staff to do the job when trowel grade coats are requested.
